Giga Europe 2026: Aligning Policy, Industry and Investment to Secure Europe’s Battery Future

Press Release / February 2026

Brussels, Belgium 11-12 March 2026 – Giga Europe 2026, the continent’s leading conference dedicated to Europe’s mine‑to‑grid battery supply chain, will return to Brussels in March, placing the industry at the heart of EU policymaking at a critical moment for Europe’s industrial competitiveness, energy security and climate ambitions.

Hosted by Benchmark Mineral Intelligence and sponsored by the European Lithium Institute, Giga Europe will convene senior leaders from government, mining, battery manufacturing, automotive, energy storage and finance to align on how Europe can secure, scale and decarbonise its regional battery supply chains.

As the European Union accelerates implementation of major policy frameworks including the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA), Net‑Zero Industry Act (NZIA) and EU Battery Regulation, Giga Europe 2026 will provide a strategic forum to assess policy impact, investment readiness and real‑world delivery across the battery value chain.

A strategic agenda for Europe’s energy transition

Alongside high‑level networking and deal‑making, the 2026 agenda will focus on:

  • Strengthening Europe’s critical mineral supply chains through initiatives such as the CRMA and the REsourceEU Action Plan
  • Protecting battery and raw material supply chains from geopolitical risk, geo‑economic fragmentation and resource nationalism
  • Scaling Europe’s battery manufacturing base through industrial policy, including the EU Battery Booster, to attract investment and compete globally
  • Advancing Europe’s circular battery economy in line with the EU Battery Regulation and forthcoming Circular Economy Act
  • Aligning EV, charging and energy storage policy with demand realities while meeting 2035 climate targets

Senior leadership from across the value chain

The two‑day conference will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions with senior executives and policymakers shaping Europe’s battery and EV ecosystem. Confirmed speakers include representatives from Toyota Motor Europe, Honda Motor Europe, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo Cars, Rio Tinto, Glencore, Albemarle, CATL, Vulcan Energy, Verkor, Terrafame, the European Commission, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and national governments.

Day one will open with a Benchmark keynote, followed by a Toyota keynote on shaping EV demand in Europe and an OEM leadership panel examining the future of Europe’s electric vehicle market. Sessions will then address gigafactory scale‑up, critical mineral security, rare earths, European industrial policy, lithium market dynamics, recycling and circularity, and the future of battery innovation.

Day two will focus on downstream market outlooks, policy risk and investment returns, updates on key battery raw materials including copper, nickel, cobalt and manganese, and the role of fleet operators, graphite supply chains and sustainability standards in building a resilient European battery ecosystem.
