CEA – French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission

CEA (Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives) is a public body established in October 1945. A leader in research, development and innovation, CEA is active in four main areas: low-carbon energies, defence and security, information technologies and health technologies. In each of these fields, CEA maintains a cross-disciplinary culture of engineers and researchers, building on the synergies between fundamental and technological research. The total CEA workforce consists of 15,838 employees. For eLi, CEA provides leading experts and large facilities in Li-ion battery (from material development to system integration), in recycling processes (hydro-, iono-metallurgy) following a sustainable approach.

  • Active battery material synthesis & processing, from lab. to pilot scale
  • Cell till battery pack manufacturing
  • Battery & pack design including the BMS
  • Cell and battery testing (including abusive test), integration & monitoring of battery pack in systems (car, airplane, drone, boat, …)
  • 2nd life battery and end of life battery valorization (recycling)
